Marie-Luise Doppelreiter - Austria

My first dog, the English Cocker Spaniel “Sir Jackie of Hilltop”, came to me in 1973 from Rosemary Charrington. The first litter in my kennel “vom Oesterreichring” was born in October 1975, and since then many successful dogs have been bred and shown by me. More than 80 English Cockers and Border Terriers (co-bred with my ex) bred and/or owned by me became champions in different countries, 7 of them won BIS - the most prestigious win perhaps was BIS at the London Cocker Spaniel Society show with my Top Secret vom Oesterreichring, the first and so far only Austrian bred and owned English Cocker to win in the breed’s country of origin.
Shows are not my only interest in dogs, some of my dogs also won or did very well in hunting trials, and many dogs from my kennel are successful at Companion-, Agility-, Obedience-, Rescue- Tracking- and Therapy Dog Tests.
Since 1984 I have judged in the following countries: Australia, Belarus, Belgium, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Great Britain (Open and Championship Shows), Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Portugal, Netherlands, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, (former) Yugoslavia, and Austria. During the last years I became group judge for the FCI group 8 (Spaniels, Retrievers, Water Dogs), 10 (Sighthounds), and 3 (Terriers) and am now approved to judge 128 breeds from 9 different FCI groups. My big love - besides the spaniels - is Junior Handling, and I am one of the founders of these competitions and the Junior Handling Club in Austria. I’m also a judge for obedience and companion dog tests, and for character tests.
I am the chairman of the Styrian branch of the Austrian Spaniel Club (OeJSpK), committee member of the Austrian Spaniel Club since more than 25 years, show organzier of the Austrian Club for Junior Handlers, and am working actively as the chairman of our local dog training Club.
